3 Ways To Wear Black This Summer
When it comes to summer black is often a neglected colour and for good reason. Despite this, black is a colour that just always makes me feel sleek and confident and a colour that I find myself still reaching for in the summer. With that, I wanted to chat about how I transition black into my summer wardrobe. From dresses to accessories, I am sharing with you my favourite ways to incorporate black into my wardrobe in a way that’ll be perfect for all your summer occasions.
The Little Black Dress
The little black dress is without a doubt my favourite way to incorporate black into my summer wardrobe. When shopping for the perfect summer black dress what I most look for is feminine necklines and lighter materials if possible. In the winter I typically stick with simple silhouettes which means the summer is the perfect time to choose an array of styles and cuts. Here I have chosen a beautiful Aritzia dress that has some of my favourite summer details. With a beautiful sweetheart neckline and puff sleeves, this dress instantly gives you summer vibes without needing to be white. When it comes to transitioning dresses from winter to summer, shopping for silhouettes such as a shift dress means it can easily be worn with tights and boots in the winter or with a simple espadrille in the summer months. A seamless transition.
Timeless Black Accessories
The next way I love to incorporate black into my summer wardrobe is through accessories. This summer I have been loving espadrilles and hats. Although having black as their accent colour, the jute in the espadrilles instantly makes these lighter and perfect for summer. I often go for a very feminine look but there are times where an edgy outfit is just what I’m looking for. In this case, adding black in small accents adds that little bit of edginess to an outfit that I need sometimes. When it comes to hats, small accents of dark colours play into your outfit beautifully while the lighter colour material of the hat make this the perfect summer accessory. Not to mention it keeps your face protected from the summer sun.
A Classic Black Bathing Suit
There is no doubt that at some point in the summer we’ll either be sitting by a pool or soaking up some sun in our backyard. So with that being said, the last way I incorporate black into my wardrobe is through a classic black bathing suit. Although one could easily go for a black two-piece, a black one-piece to me, is just beyond classy. Although one-piece bathing suits have sometimes gained a bad rep for covering up too much I think this to be untrue. When choosing a one-piece I love to go for high rise cuts and beautiful back detailing. Although seemingly simple, a high leg or strappy back can take a simple black bathing suit to a whole new level. Add a little black cover up, a hat, and you’re ready for summer.
