Why You Should Invest in Skincare in 2025

Being born in Venezuela and growing up amongst some of the most beautiful and inspiring women I know tough me one crucial thing, dressing up, doing your hair, makeup, and skincare is not about vanity. It is about taking care of your well being.

Skincare is often marketed towards us in an overwhelming and often over-complicated way. So after sharing with you why you should take better care of your skin, I’ll share with you a simple skincare routine (for both men and women), because contrary to what society has made us all believe, mens skin needs to be taken care of too. A man that knows how to take care of himself - now that’s a man. And (to my male readers) if you’re scared of skincare or see it as a Womans thing, I encourage you to deep dive as to why that is or isn’t.

Back to the subject.

The largest organ in our body is our skin, yes, our skin is an organ (and an often overlooked one too). As humans we are quick to ensure we are nourishing our body with good food, exercising for a healthy cardiovascular system, but we often fall short in ensuring our skin is well taken care of. 1 in every 3 cancers diagnosed globally is skin cancer, with 80-90% of skin cancer being caused by UV radiations. I wonder why it’s not more talked about. With that, the best ways to prevent skin cancer is by staying away from the suns rays (either by being in the shade or using sunscreen as much as possible). A simple step in your routine could literally safer you. Over an above this, skincare can aid the longevity of healthy skin by targeting things such as dry skin, acne, and other human skin issues. As someone who worked in the beauty industry from much of his career, my dad always compared skin to a leather baseball glove or bag. The best way to keep leather goods looking lovely is to polish it. In other words, you moisturize the leather. Over time, leather gets dry and cracked and needs that hydration to maintain is suppleness, our skin is no different.

My second point is simply self-confidence. Beauty comes from within, and feeling your best is the first step. Taking a few minutes each day to give yourself the time of day, or in my case, carve out a few minutes of solitude. A time to think (or not), and to reflect on life. A moment to gather my thoughts, or simply calm myself down before big work moments.

So when asked Why Should One Invest in Skincare? my answer is simply,
